Youth Green Job Initiatives: Solar Engineering
In partner with international energy organizations, this project trains unemployed youths in off-grid solar installation, maintenance, and solar entrepreneurship. Graduates receive a startup toolkit containing measuring instruments, basic solar panels, and certificates that allow them to get hired by commercial providers or start private servicing shops.
Project Objectives
- Train 80 youth in technical solar system sizing and repairs.
- Establish 10 youth-owned green repair cooperatives.
- Promote low-cost solar lanterns in off-grid slums.
Key Achievements
- 83 youths completed the training and received tools.
- 6 solar kiosks opened in Temeke.
- 35 graduates found full-time employment with solar firms.
